Fingolimod versus High Dose Interferon Beta-1a in Multiple Sclerosis: A Randomized Clinical Trial
Background: High dose Interferon Beta and Fingolimod are efficient in Multiple Sclerosis. Objectives: Comparison the efficacy of these two drugs in patients with treatment failure on low dose interferon beta. Materials and Methods: The MS patients (McDonald criteria 2010) with the history of unbeneficial treatment on low dose interferon beta participated in this randomized clinical trial ...
متن کاملOral High-Dose Atorvastatin Treatment in Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis
BACKGROUND Recent data from animal models of multiple sclerosis (MS) and from a pilot study indicated a possible beneficial impact of statins on MS. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS Safety, tolerability and effects on disease activity of atorvastatin given alone or in combination with interferon-beta (IFN-beta) were assessed in a phase II open-label baseline-to-treatment trial in relapsing-remi...
متن کاملHigh dose thiamine improves fatigue in multiple sclerosis.
The majority of the patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) experience fatigue. Some observations indicate that fatigue and related manifestations concomitant with MS could be associated with an intracellular mild thiamine deficiency. We recruited 15 patients with MS who also experience fatigue and assessed the severity of the fatigue using the Fatigue Severity Scale. Although blood thiamine and ...
متن کاملHepatotoxicity after high‐dose intravenous methylprednisolone in multiple sclerosis patients
Hepatotoxicity is a rare adverse event of methylprednisolone that should be considered in clinical practice. In patients at risk, we propose liver function surveillance, by measuring hepatic enzymes concentration 15-30 days after methylprednisolone administration. Additionally, we propose ACTH, dexamethasone, or plasma exchange as alternate treatment options for these patients.
متن کاملLow dose naltrexone therapy in multiple sclerosis.
The use of low doses of naltrexone for the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS) enjoys a worldwide following amongst MS patients. There is overwhelming anecdotal evidence, that in low doses naltrexone not only prevents relapses in MS but also reduces the progression of the disease. It is proposed that naltrexone acts by reducing apoptosis of oligodendrocytes. It does this by reducing inducible ...
